Gold Reef City is a theme park which shows Johannesburg as it was at the turn of the century. You can go in an old gold mine, see a gold pouring demonstration and tribal dances. This 59 000 hectares park is on the eroded remain of a 1. billion year old extinct volcanic crater – one of only three such extensive crates in the world – and is home to the big five (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and elephant). The adventurous can enjoy a ballon safari over the Park.

Krugersdorp: Historic Gold Mine

A visit into the original workings of the mine where you may elect to participate in the crashing of the rock you take out; and panning for gold. Visit the ancient ruins of “ Old Diggers” Hotel and view the Grave Yard of the miners that worked the original mine claim in 1874. Enjoy a braai and soft drinks afterwards.
